Congratulations to Dr. Scott Sanders on being the FIRST in the region to use the new Endologix DETOUR system.

Dr. Sanders inserted the bypass with a small puncture in the groin and ankle (NO INCISIONS) which dramatically decreases the risk of infection and pain after the procedure. This restored normal flow to the foot and the patient is now walking without pain in the leg!

Currently, there are only limited options to treat small vessel disease in patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). Dr. Sanders at PVI is the only vascular surgeon in western Kentucky with access to this device. Dr. Scott Sanders recently attended the Philips Project PAD Applied Skills Training in Massachusetts. It was a two-day hands-on intensive training to strengthen skills using intravascular ultrasound (ultrasound inside of the artery/vein) and laser atherectomy (using a laser to remove plaque from the artery) to achieve better outcomes when treating peripheral arterial disease (PAD).
